Infant Baptism

Step One:  Ensure that you are participating fully in the graces of your own Baptism by attending Mass every Sunday (or Saturday evening), praying daily, and living in union with Jesus.

Step Two:  The second step is to register as a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary or St. Leo parishes (unless you are already registered as a parishioner in which case you can skip this step).  If you have not yet registered as a parishioner please do so at this link. HRSL parish registration online.

Step Three:  Please complete this HRSL online request for Baptism of young child or infant

Step four:  Consider who you will choose as godparents for your child.  Each child must have a Catholic Godparent who has received the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) and is actively practicing their faith. Please request that the godparent(s) download and complete the Sponsor Certificate for all sponsors

There is usually a second godparent who is Catholic; however, you may choose a practicing member of a Christian denomination other than Catholic to be a Christian witness and stand alongside the Catholic godparent. This person is not a godparent but is called a Christian witness. Please request that the Christian witness download and complete the CHRISTIAN WITNESS for a BAPTISM FORM

​Since a godparent is meant to be a spiritual guide and support in the Christian faith, those who are not Christian cannot actually fulfill the role. Although they may be wonderful and spiritual individuals, persons of faith communities which do not recognize Jesus Christ as God and profess a belief in a Trinitarian God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are unable to function as godparents.

If either or both of the godparents are unable to attend the Baptism, a proxy may be named to stand in during the ceremony.

​Step five:  Once you have submitted the Baptismal request form you can begin your preparation online!  We require three sessions for this but the first two sessions are free video classes from Formed.org.  Click here for information on Formed.  Once you have the log in just go to https://watch.formed.org/reborn to watch second and the third videos of the Reborn series  (You don’t need to watch the first video).  

​Step six:  After you have watched the two videos please email Sister Mary Rose at [email protected] or call her to set up the third and final session before your baby’s Baptism.
