Cursillo
An Action Movement for Lay Men and Women
Talk to anyone who has made a Cursillo, they cannot really explain why they are so enthusiastic about it. they will tell you it is wonderful, it is the greatest experience of their lives–something they will never forget. They will tell you that you have to go through it to understand it, but they cannot tell you what it is. why? Because it is a living experience and we all fall short in adequately explaining a living experience.
An Encounter with Christ
Cursillo is an encounter with Christ. You won’t see Him with your eyes, but you will come to know Him in a deeper way and become very much aware of his presence and His love for you.
The Structure of a Cursillo Weekend
Cursillo weekends begin on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and end the following Sunday evening. In N.H., Cursillo is experienced at the Sarto Center in Hooksett. There are four (4) weekends per year: two in the spring and two in the fall.
Who Can Make a Cursillo Weekend?
If you are 20 years old or over you may attend a Cursillo. If you wish to make a Cursillo, ask your pastor or anyone who has lived the Cursillo experience. In the parishes of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and St. Leo, there is a list in the Gathering Space at OLHR which names all those parishioners who have lived their Cursillo weekend. You may ask one of them to be your Cursillo sponsor.
Objectives of the Movement
The primary objectives of the Cursillo Movement are to develop in adult Christians a consciousness of their power and mission to become leaders in the work of Christian renewal and to sustain them as they provide a Christian leaven in civic, social, and economic life. To learn more about the Cursillo Movement you may want to check out the state and national Cursillo websites.
