Vacation Bible School
Every year for one week during the month of August, we totally transform the downstairs hall and all the class rooms into an exciting adventure for our children. It is Vacation Bible School. Each year the theme changes and we invite the children of our parishes to join us in learning about Jesus. Children from 3years of age through the 6th grade are invited to attend. Typically each year we have between 80 and 100 children with over 40 volunteers. It is a huge event for the children of our parishes and their friends.
The children “rotate” from room to room and are engaged in different activities. They have a singing station, a snack station, a game station, a craft station, a bible story station, and a bible memory verse station. The children and volunteers have great week learning about Jesus and each other. Our volunteers range from retired grandparents to stay at home Moms, and high school students
Each year at VBS we also have a Christian Service Project. This helps the children to realize that they ARE part of a community and that you are never too young to be the face of Jesus to someone. The parishioners of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and St. Leo are very generous. We are always looking for help with snack items, craft supplies, or sponsoring a child who might not otherwise get to attend.
Due to this generosity we have been able to keep the cost the same for the last several years $25 for one child, $35 for two children, $40.00 for three children, $45.00 for four children. If a family has more than four children we can negotiate the cost. If someone cannot afford the cost, there are always sponsorships.
