Sacramental Mentoring

What is Sacramental Mentoring?

This is a program designed to help school aged-children prepare for Sacraments they have missed.  They include Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion in any combination. The Mentoring program enables children to enter into a relationship with God and share in the life of their identity as Children of God. We are here to help you in the catechesis of your child.

How does it work?

We will set up children and their families with another family from our parish.  Together they decide what day and time works best for them to meet.  They will meet on a weekly basis to prepare for their sacraments.  The program moves at the child’s pace.  Therefore progress is based on each child and sacraments are scheduled accordingly.

Who may participate?

The program requires that you be a registered parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary or St. Leo parishes. We ask that at least one parent/guardian must accompany the child for their sessions.  Prayer and participation in Sunday worship is essential for children to grasp the essentials of our faith. We also ask the families to participate in Faith Formation events. This allows families to begin to build community here at our parishes.  The true success of the program depends upon the involvement of the family.

Whether your family is just entering the church, is returning after time away, or have decided as a family to delay the children’s sacramental preparation, or any other circumstance, all are welcome, please contact Robin Langlois at the parish office.
