Faith Formation K-5

Forming God’s Children–the Charge to Parents

We are called by our baptism to participate in lifelong faith formation.  All of us are called to help our children grow in their faith, parents, grandparents and godparents are the first teachers of that faith. Prayer and participation in Sunday worship is essential for children to grasp the essentials of our faith   we as a parish are called to help you fulfill that promise made at your child’s baptism.

What is the format?

Our sessions for children take place in an informal classroom setting with a catechist and a student aide. Children experience their faith.  We use the books called Faith & Life.  These books are a wonderful source for forming the children in the matters of Catholic doctrine, tradition, and scripture; it is also reference The Catechism of the Catholic Church so that there is never a doubt as to where or why the material was presented.

Our Program begins with Kindergarten and goes through grade 5.  We have approximately 26 sessions and two Family Catechesis events.  We also participate in several Christian service projects.  These things help us to remind our children and their families that they are never too young to be part of a community and to be the “face of Christ” for others.

What are the expectations?

All families participating in our Faith Formation program are expected to regularly attend Holy Mass and, as their schedules allow participate in other parish activities. Families must be registered parishioners of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary or St. Leo parishes in order to register in the Faith Formation program.

When do sessions meet?

All of our classes take place on Sunday mornings after Holy Mass from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
