Faithful Citizenship

Building a Culture of Life

The Faithful Citizenship Committee runs under the premise that God is Love and the Author of Life, the greatest gift we have been given.  In Deuteronomy Chapter 30 God directs His people to ‘Choose life’.  For Diocese of Manchester Faithful Citizenship News, click here.

“I call heaven and earth today to witness against you:  I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him.”  Deuteronomy 30:19-20

A Call to Justice and Mercy:  40 Days for Life Continues til end of Lent 2012

As Christians, we live out that choice by means of Matthew Chapter 25—the basic spiritual and corporal works of Mercy.  Our motivation comes directly from this Gospel:  “whatsoever you do to the least of My people, that you do unto Me.’  In the arena of Catholic Social Teaching, our vocation should always embrace that of Justice and Mercy.  Justice does not mean “getting even” or punishment.  Instead, it means the freedom to release one another from the condemning attitudes of our real enemy, satan and the powers of evil.  To learn more about how you can participate in this work of mercy and to sign up to pray at the Greenland abortion clinic, check out 40 Days for Life.  To hear Jackie McCoy’s interview on a local radio station, click here.
