Mother Angeline Ministries of Care

Love in Action:  “I was ill and you comforted me…” Matthew 25:36

The Mother Angeline Ministries of Care (MAMC) is a volunteer parish outreach program of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary & St. Leo parishes that assists the Pastor in meeting the SPIRITUAL NEEDS of the Home-bound, the Sick and the Dying of our parish faith community.  Training for this ministry is provided in collaboration with the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, after whose foundress our ministry is named.

Our trained Mother Angeline Ministers of Care strive to meet the needs of parishioners  in the following areas:  A minister of care during a home visit

Home-bound: (Due to temporary or long term illness and/or physical limitations.)

Once the Parish Office has been advised of the need, the parishioner will be visited in their home, by a MAMC Coordinator to ascertain the types of services the parish can provide.  Using this information, a Mother Angeline Minister will be assigned to make regular visits and to bring Holy Communion if the person so wishes, at a mutually agreeable time.

Nursing Homes and/or Assisted Living Facilities:

Each local nursing home or assisted living facility has assigned Ministers of Care who visit on a weekly basis. The number of MAMC who visit depends on the needs of that facility. These Ministers of Care work to provide needed Spiritual Care within the guidelines of each particular healthcare facility.  It is up to the individual or family member to make the parish office aware of the person’s admission to the facility and the need for service. The larger facilities have Holy Mass said on a monthly basis.

Hospitalized:

Our Minister of Care team visits ALL who are listed as Catholic on the Frisbie Hospital Census.   It is important that the hospital staff be made aware at the time of admission that the patient would like to be placed on the clergy list for visitation.  Because of HIPAA regulations, unless the name appears on that list, the person will not receive a regularly scheduled visit from the parish ministry.

Dying:

The MAMC has a team of members who have received additional training to work with the individuals who are in the final stage of life.  They strive to bring spiritual care to the dying person as well as comfort to the family.  The level of need and service varies with the circumstances.  Individuals are visited in the home setting, local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Frisbie Hospital, as well as Hyder Hospice House in Dover.  Visitations begin after the Parish Office is made aware of the request by the individual and/or a family member.

Our dedicated team of Mother Angeline Ministers of Care tend to the spiritual needs of over 110 parishioners per week.  Anyone in need of service or who would like further information is asked to contact the Parish Office at # 603-332-1897.

Sacrament of the Sick

Fr.  Paul administers the Sacrament of the Sick on a regularly “scheduled” basis through the ministry to home-bound, nursing home, and assisted-living facility residents.  Hospitalized or dying parishioners are tended to by Father “WHEN” the family or nursing staff make Father aware of the need.
